La Mexcalina is a Mexican band of Psychofolkabilly, and they are the proudly first of their kind.
Their style comes from the fusion of traditional Mexican music with other genres such as Psychobilly, Country and Punk. Formed in July 2012, La Mexcalina has stepped on different and important stages in Mexico and Canada, they have three record materials.
While chatting with Jazz Diaz electronicGIG asked where the band got her inspiration for the song…this was her reply.
electronicGIG: Hi Jazz….everyone at electronicGIG loves your song “Lo Haré Por Ti” can you tell us a bit about the song and your inspiration for it?
Jazz Diaz: “Yes, it is one of my favorite songs, it has a good story … I will hear you quickly, one day we went to play in jail, in the area of minor crimes and where there are also the prisoners who are awaiting sentence. It was a very powerful show, one of the best we have ever had, and we played for the prisoners and their families who were visiting.
In the end, a lady made me, her son had little to have entered the jail and she was very sad, but she saw a strong woman … she hugged me and started crying, I hugged her tight and turned my head To see your son, he looked like a nice guy, you know? I was very young and looked sad, at that moment I felt that I could connect with them, I could share all that pain they felt … when they left, after collecting our things, I was observing the prisoners for a while away.
All with their families, trying to be strong, I kept seeing the lady with her son, how I tried to support him and he tried to become strong … everything inspired me a lot, and then I computed “Lo haré por ti” (I’ll do it for you) the song of the video
The song basically talks about a person going through a very difficult time in their life and then looks into the eyes of the person they love the most and says “I’ll do it for you, I’m going to fly so high until the sun hits, I’m going to win the shadows around me, I will break the chains that bind my feet, and although you see me crying I swear that I will be fine, and when everything happens and I have you by my side again, you will know that I did not lie when I swore that I would do it for you, ” that’s the lyric or chorus of the lyrics.
Edd always says this “This song is born from wherever there is a person trying to overcome a really tough situation and is willing to do anything to achieve it”
